ABOUT US
WHO WE ARE
Andrew J. Wild College is a pioneering non-profit institution providing quality higher education through Cambridge GCE A-level programs in Nepal. Established in 2001 by Mr. Mohan Mickey Giri, a Nepalese social entrepreneur living in Finland, Andrew J. Wild College aims to provide students with not only academic knowledge, but the worldly skills required to bridge the gap between youth and adulthood, regardless of their educational or financial status. Our ultimate goal is to produce responsible, well rounded and productive citizens of the nation.
Why we are different
What sets us apart from other institutions is that we believe more in an individual’s overall potential, rather than just their academic qualifications. We believe that no one with the will to learn should be held off from doing so because of financial inability, previous educational status or other external factors. We pride ourselves on our ability to connect someone with potential to the right resources for turning their potential into reality.
Our selection and overall learning process involves not only academic excellence, but an overall personality assessment with focus on essential skills like time management, problem solving, socializing, to name a few, that will be necessary in their everyday life. We also provide resources for students to develop their own unique talents.
Andrew J. Wild College provides a holistic experience for our students in an environment where students can acquire education and applied skills to fully develop their own potentials. A combination of experienced and dedicated teaching staff, a student-centered learning environment, ample resources as well as individual attention and guidance provides our students with all the basics to grow into a productive member of the society.
HISTORY
A brief background
Andrew J. Wild College, though established in 2001, was conceived much earlier. Our beginnings can be traced back to Budhanilkantha School, which annually takes in quite a few students from impoverished backgrounds. Mohan Mickey Giri, the founder of Andrew J Wild College, was one of them. However, while he was in 9th grade, due to a minor misunderstanding, he was kicked off the school. As an impoverished kid from Kolti, Bajura, he had very few options and nowhere to go after he was kicked out. Coming from a poor family, he could not afford to continue his education, even though he had ambition and drive.
A proper support at a proper time can change lives
It was at this crucial time that he had a chance to encounter with Mr. Andrew J. Wild, a physics teacher at Budhanilkantha, that changed his life. As Mr Giri was arguing with the gate keeper at Budhanilkantha School, Andrew was just driving by. Andrew, after hearing out Mr. Giri’s story, decided to help him out. Although Mr. Giri was neither an academic overachiever, nor particularly distinguished in any other way, Andrew took a chance with him. Andrew took him in, financed his studies, mentored him and supported him. Thanks to him, years later, Mr. Giri is now a successful entrepreneur with a strong desire to help other less fortunate kids who are now in similar conditions as he was back then.
Andrew J. Wild College – A Guru Dakshina
Andrew J. Wild College is a “guru-dakshina” to Andrew J. Wild and was established with Andrew’s blessings. After earning a certain level of success as an adult, Mr. Giri wanted to pay back his debt of honor to Andrew in some way. But Andrew wanted nothing for himself. Instead, Andrew suggested that he help other kids who were in similar conditions as he himself was several years ago. Thus, Andrew J. Wild Institite of Advanced Institute (now Andrew J. Wild College) was established.
Scholarships to the deserving and needy students
Andrew J. Wild College is an institution that is dedicated towards helping deserving young Nepalis get the education and support to help them evolve into responsible and productive adult. It was established as a way of helping young student who wish to continue their studies but cannot do so due to lack of financial resources or a lag in their previous educational qualifications.
Because of his rather interesting background, Mr. Giri believes that being good in academics alone does not determine a person’s future potential. Anyone who wishes to study but lacks the necessary resources can find help at Andrew J. Wild College, despite their merit or lack thereof.
We not only provide free education to deserving students, we also support them in their future endeavors – from providing proper guidance and counseling to connecting them to sponsors and helping them find scholarships.
